Three checks: before every trade, every news release, and every challenge you pay for.

Most accounts end on a rule, not on a bad market view. Check three moments: before you click a trade (stop, size, today's limit), before a release (your firm's window), and before you pay for a challenge (limits, news rule, cost of retries). Each step below links to a free tool. No signals, no predictions.

Step 1 · Before every trade

Can I place this trade and still keep my account?

A stop at the broker, 1% risk, a limit for the day.

    Why this check

Work out the size from the money you are willing to lose, not the other way round. Compare it with how much of today's allowance is left and with the overall floor. If the stop cannot be attached, do not trade. Educational estimates: your firm's dashboard is the authority.

Step 2 · Before every news release

Is there a window where my firm restricts trading?

Know the window and any pending order inside it.

    Why this check

Firms describe different windows, phases and consequences, and a stop or target near price can trigger inside the window without you touching the platform. Decide before the window whether you are flat or holding through. Read your firm's own page on the day: rules change.

Step 3 · Before you pay for a challenge

Do I understand what I am paying for?

Rules, limits and the real cost of retries.

    Why this check

A challenge is a fee for a chance, and most of the rules are about what ends it. Check how the daily limit is measured, whether the overall limit trails, what the news rule does on the funded account and how often you would need to retry. We quote no prices: read them on the firm's page.

What these checks do not do Honest limits.
    • They do not predict the market or tell you what to trade.
    • They cannot block your platform: a web page has no access to it.
    • Spreads, slippage, gaps over the stop, commission and swap can make a real loss larger than any estimate.
    • Firm rules change: every fact we use carries the date we read it, and the firm's own page decides.
Where the rules come from Firms' own pages, dated, with a public change log.

Targets, loss limits and news windows are read from FTMO's and FundingPips' own pages and kept in one data file. When a rule changes we log it with the page and the date: see rule changes, the Trust Centre and our methodology.

    Frequently asked questions

Does Marlin tell me what to trade?

No. We publish no signals, prices or predictions. The tools work out size, limits and windows from the numbers you enter and the rules firms publish, with the date we read them.

Can a website stop me from losing?

No. A web page cannot reach your trading platform. These checks help you decide before you click. Your own stop at the broker and your own limits do the protecting.

    Is my data sent anywhere?

The planning tools keep their settings in your browser only. Clearing site data resets them.

Why does Marlin recommend checking before paying for a challenge?

Because fees are a cost you should be ready to lose, and passing is not guaranteed. Marlin may earn a commission from some partner links at no extra cost to you; it does not decide what we write. See the affiliate disclosure.
