What Is the Price of Oil Today?

There are two main prices. Watch both live.

Oil has no single price. The two benchmarks are WTI (US crude) and Brent (global crude), and each is quoted per barrel (42 US gallons). The live chart below is refreshed by TradingView, so no number printed on this page can go stale.

Scheduled releases can have news windows on a funded account: FTMO's Standard account describes 2 minutes either side, FundingPips Master accounts 5 minutes (rules read on the firms' pages; check yours). A sudden headline has no window, so your stop, size and daily limit do the work: oil headline days on a funded account.

WTI or Brent? WTI is US crude at Cushing; Brent is North Sea crude priced at sea.

They usually move together but are not identical, and the gap between them (the spread) changes. See WTI vs Brent: the difference, and the WTI and Brent pages.

Spot or futures? Spot is for delivery now; futures are for delivery later.

The chart shows a continuous futures-style quote. The EIA publishes daily spot prices for WTI and Brent, a few days behind the live market, which is why the two numbers can differ.

Barrel price vs pump price A barrel is 42 US gallons; the pump price adds refining, distribution and tax.

Convert units with the barrel converter, or see what a gallon of gasoline costs at a given crude price with the oil to gasoline calculator.

Why the price moves Inventories, OPEC+ decisions, the dollar and geopolitics.

Read what drives oil volatility and how traders read the EIA report. Get the EIA figures and WTI moves as notifications with the alerts on the oil hub.

Trading it Oil moves fast; size the risk before you place the trade.

Use the WTI position size calculator and read how to trade oil. CFDs are complex and carry a high risk of losing money quickly because of leverage.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the price of oil today?

Open the live chart on this page: it is refreshed by TradingView, so no fixed number is printed here that could go stale. There are two main benchmarks, WTI (US crude) and Brent (global crude), and they trade at different prices.

What is the price of a barrel of crude oil?

A barrel is a unit of volume, 42 US gallons. Its price is quoted per barrel for a benchmark such as WTI or Brent, and the live chart shows both. Retail fuel prices are a different thing: see the oil to gasoline calculator.

What is the oil spot price?

The spot price is the price for crude delivered now, as opposed to a futures price for delivery later. The EIA publishes daily WTI (Cushing, Oklahoma) and Brent (Europe) spot prices, usually a few days behind the live market.

Why is oil priced in dollars per barrel?

It is the market convention for the benchmarks. For a different unit (litres, gallons, tonnes) use the barrel converter.

How much is oil worth today?

It depends on the grade and the benchmark. WTI and Brent are the references most traders use; check both on the chart. Prices change continuously during trading hours.
