    Short answer

FxPro offers gold only as CFDs, under four symbols that differ in lot size and trading days. Your cost is the spread, plus a commission on some accounts and swap on positions held overnight. The exact figures depend on your account type and the FxPro entity that serves your country.

    GOLD
Spot gold vs US dollar. 1 lot = 100 troy ounces.
    GOLDoz
    Same market. 1 lot = 1 ounce.
    GOLDgr
Same market in grams. 1 lot = 1 gram, minimum 5 grams.
    GOLD365
    Separate weekend-only gold CFD.
    Hours (UTC)
Sunday 22:00 to Friday 21:00, daily break 21:00–22:00.
    Costs
Spread, plus commission on cTrader and Raw Spread accounts, plus overnight swap.

    Key takeaways

    • Check which gold symbol you are trading before you size a position: 1 lot of GOLD is 100 oz, 1 lot of GOLDoz is 1 oz.
    • Weekday gold at FxPro pauses daily from 21:00 to 22:00 UTC. GOLD365 trades only at weekends and has its own spread.
    • At the Monday rollover, GOLD365 positions move to GOLD. Pending orders are cancelled and stop-loss and take-profit levels are not carried over.
    • Leverage and swap rates depend on the FxPro entity and the account. EU retail clients are limited to 20:1 on gold.

Trade responsibly. CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Your capital is at risk.

This page covers the practical side of trading gold at one broker: which symbol to pick, when it trades, what it costs and how to size a position. For what moves the gold price, start with what moves gold prices. For the broker overall, see our FxPro review.

    Gold symbols at FxPro

Fact, from FxPro’s instrument pages on 27 September 2026. FxPro lists five gold CFDs. The first three are the same market in different units.

    SymbolWhat it is1 lot =
GOLDSpot gold vs US dollar100 oz
GOLDozSpot gold vs US dollar1 oz
GOLDgrSpot gold vs US dollar1 gram
GOLDEUROSpot gold vs euronot shown (VERIFY)
    GOLD365Weekend-only gold CFD100 oz

The unit matters more than the name. “1 lot” of GOLD is a hundred times larger than “1 lot” of GOLDoz, so the same lot number means very different risk. The symbols offered also differ by platform: GOLD365, for example, is listed only for MT5 and the FxPro app.

    Trading hours (UTC)

Weekly chart of FxPro gold trading hours in UTC: GOLD trades Sunday 22:00 to Friday 21:00 with a daily break from 21:00 to 22:00; GOLD365 trades Friday 21:05 to Sunday 21:58

As shown on FxPro’s GOLD and GOLD365 pages, 27 September 2026.

    • GOLD, GOLDoz and GOLDgr: Sunday 22:00 to Friday 21:00 UTC, with a break every day from 21:00 to 22:00.
    • GOLD365: Friday 21:05 to Sunday 21:58 UTC. It is closed Monday to Thursday.

Holidays and clock changes can shift these times, so check the symbol’s session times in your platform.

Analysis. Spreads often widen around the daily break and the Sunday open, when liquidity is thin. A stop placed close to the price can be hit then without any news.

The busiest hours for gold are usually the London and New York sessions, and the US data releases in the economic calendar are when it moves fastest.

    Weekend gold: how GOLD365 works

Fact, from FxPro’s GOLD365 page. GOLD365 lets you trade gold after the main market closes on Friday, for example after weekend geopolitical news. FxPro lists these conditions:

    • It has its own spread. GOLD and GOLD365 are priced separately, and FxPro warns that the two spreads can differ at rollover. That can create a gain or loss that has nothing to do with the market’s direction.
    • Positions move at rollover. When the main market reopens, open GOLD365 positions are transferred to GOLD. They close at the latest available price and reopen at the first available price, so a gap can produce slippage.
    • Pending orders are cancelled. Any pending order not filled by rollover is not carried over.
    • Stops are not carried over. The new GOLD position opens with no stop-loss or take-profit. You have to set them again yourself.

Analysis. The last point is the one that catches people out. If you hold a GOLD365 position into Sunday night, plan to be at the screen at 22:00 UTC to put your stop back, or close the position before rollover.

What does gold cost at FxPro?

Three costs apply. Their size depends on the account.

    1. Spread. On Standard accounts the spread is marked up and there is no commission. On MT4/MT5 Raw Spread accounts, metals have no markup and a commission is added. FxPro shows an average and minimum spread for each symbol, but the live spread is what you pay.
    2. Commission (cTrader and Raw Spread). On cTrader, FxPro charges $35 per million US dollars traded on FX and spot metals, charged round-trip when the position opens.
    3. Swap. On spot metals: lot size × swap rate × number of nights. The swap is tripled on Wednesday nights for FX and metals. Swap-free accounts are available on conditions.

Worked example. The prices here are round numbers for the arithmetic, not quotes.

    ItemCalculationResult
    Position0.10 lot of GOLD10 oz
    Notional10 oz × $4,000$40,000
    Spread$0.30 × 10 oz$3.00
    Commission (cTrader)$35 per $1m, × 2 sides$2.80

On a Standard account, the spread may be wider and there is no commission. To compare accounts, add up the spread in dollars and any commission, both for the same size.

    Sizing a gold position

Size from the risk, not from the lot number. The formula is the same for every gold symbol:

Ounces = amount you are prepared to lose ÷ stop distance in dollars

Worked example (hypothetical numbers). The account is $5,000 and the risk is 1% ($50), with the stop $15 away from the entry:

    • $50 ÷ $15 = 3.33 oz. Round down to 3 oz, which risks $45.
    • On GOLD that is 0.03 lots. On GOLDoz it is 3 lots. It is the same position.
    • The worst mistake here is typing “3 lots” into GOLD: that is 300 oz, and with a $15 stop it risks $4,500.

Spread, slippage and gaps can make the real loss larger than planned. Our position size calculator does the arithmetic with an editable contract size. Enter 100 for GOLD or 1 for GOLDoz.

    Margin and leverage

Margin = notional value ÷ leverage. For example, 3 oz at $4,000 is $12,000 notional. At 20:1 that needs $600 of margin.

    • EU retail clients. ESMA’s retail CFD rules, agreed in 2018, cap gold at 20:1. They also require margin close-out and negative balance protection on each account.
    • Other FxPro entities. FxPro’s leverage page states the maximum for “the applicable FxPro entity”. It uses dynamic leverage, so available leverage falls as your position in one instrument grows. Margin can also be raised in volatile periods.

Opinion. Treat the maximum leverage as a limit, not a target. Position size comes from your stop and your risk per trade; margin only has to be affordable.

Which platform should you use for gold at FxPro?

FxPro offers MT4, MT5, cTrader and its own FxPro platform. For gold:

    • MT5 or the FxPro app if you want GOLD365 at weekends.
    • cTrader if you want to trade from TradingView charts. FxPro connects to TradingView through a cTrader account only; see best brokers for TradingView.
    • MT4 or MT5 if you use Expert Advisors.

Our MT4 vs MT5 vs cTrader guide compares them in more detail.

Who can open an FxPro account?

    • FxPro does not offer CFDs to residents of some countries, including the United States and Iran.
    • The FxPro entity that serves you depends on where you live. FxPro UK Ltd is regulated by the FCA, FxPro Financial Services Ltd by CySEC and FxPro Global Markets Ltd by the Securities Commission of The Bahamas. Leverage, protections and products differ between them.
    • Check which entity is named in your client agreement before you deposit.

Before your first gold trade at FxPro

    1. Check the symbol and its contract size in the platform’s symbol specification.
    2. Check the live spread and any commission on your account type.
    3. Check the swap rate if you will hold overnight, and remember the Wednesday triple swap.
    4. Size the position from your stop and risk, not from a lot number.
    5. Check the economic calendar for US data during your holding period.
    6. Practise the whole routine on a demo account first.

    Our view

Opinion. FxPro’s gold range is useful for two groups of traders. GOLDoz and GOLDgr let small accounts size positions in single ounces or grams. GOLD365 lets traders react to weekend news. The costs are easy to compare once converted into dollars per trade. The weak spots are GOLD365’s rollover rules and conditions that vary by entity, so read the symbol specification and the client agreement before you trade. For the analysis side, our gold routine before the US session sets out the checks we use.
